Presented By: Josephine Bathke
The presentation will review a toolkit created at the University of Iowa that discusses the key considerations and management best practices before, during, and after the termination meeting for an involuntary staff termination. It provides a checklist for each stage of the involuntary termination that should be completed before the termination meeting. Finally, this toolkit contains common termination meeting problems and provides best practice suggestions for how to anticipate and respond to the problems.
Learning objectives for this session include:
- Preparing you for the difficult and awkward involuntary termination meeting.
- Encouraging you to plan for the involuntary termination to prevent a situation that could increase risk to your company.
- Familiarizing you with some key considerations and best practices for involuntary terminations
