Accessing the Military Talent Pool

Presented By: Emma Toops

ToopsVeterans who served in any era since WWII only make up 10% of our society. If you remove all of those who are no longer in the labor pool, that percentage drops to about 5%. If you are looking to hire Veterans who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan in the last 15 years, that percentage drops to less than 1%. Are you looking for candidates from the military talent pool? Do you know how to find, connect, and communicate with them? This talent pool is small, but the “fish” are highly talented. Are you equipped to “catch” them?

Learning objectives for this session include:

  • Understanding the common transition challenges of modern-day Veterans
  • Understanding how HR professionals fit into the transition process
  • Learning how empathy and understanding basic military culture improves communication and rapport when hiring from the military talent pool
